After its successful run in movie theaters throughout Latin America and having become the highest-grossing Ecuadorian film in the country’s history, our first feature film “Dedicated to my ex” can now be enjoyed on Netflix and Pantaya.
Netflix is the largest streaming platform in the world, with 37.5 million subscribers in Latin America and reports a growth of approximately 20% in subscriptions annually.
“Dedicated to my ex” is the first Ecuadorian film to be part of the Netflix catalog, and to celebrate its premiere, from our enchufe.tv channel we launched a sketch entitled “Netflix & Chill”. The sketch featured well-known and beloved talents by the channel’s fans and followed a romantic comedy tone very much in the style of “Dedicated to my ex”.
In addition, the film has also arrived on Pantaya, the most important Spanish-language content platform in the United States. Pantaya offers the largest selection of ad-free content, ranging from the latest hits to more timeless classics, blockbuster films and critically acclaimed films from Latin America and the U.S.
The film, which has managed to conquer these two platforms, tells the story of Ariel, a 21-year-old boy who falls apart when his girlfriend breaks up with him and leaves for Finland. Together with his best friend, they try to get the money to travel to that country and get her back, but no attempt is successful, until a battle of the bands comes to the city, where the prize is $10,000. Determined to win it, Ariel forms a band composed of his clueless friend Ortega, a rebellious drummer named Felicia and Néstor, a bad Christian guitarist. On the way to win the prize, the band of young people will have to decide between victory or their own friendship, while Ariel discovers that love, like a good song, comes when you least expect it.
Directed by Jorge Ulloa and starring Raúl Santana, Nataly Valencia (Ecuador), Biassini Segura (Colombia) and Carlos Alcántara (Peru), it features the participation of renowned Latin American actors such as: Mariana Treviño, Eugenio Derbez, Jorge Enrique Abello and Lorna Cepeda; as well as the Ecuadorians: Alfredo Espinoza, Orlando Herrera, Martha Ormaza, Alex Cisneros, among others.
Appearances by renowned influencers and youtubers such as: Fernanfloo, Luisito Comunica, Werevertumorro, Mox, Yosstop, Kika Nieto and Iván Marín are also added.
The existence of audiovisual content platforms, such as Netflix or Pantaya, allow to extend the life of the films and Jorge Ulloa explains it this way:
“When “Dedicated to my ex” arrived in movie theaters, it had a beautiful reception from the public, which positioned it as the most watched Ecuadorian film in history. Now, being the first Ecuadorian film on Netflix, gives a second life to this project, where it will find new audiences and territories. The goal of a content, which has so much love and work behind it, is to reach as many people as possible.”
